The following provides an idea of the lack of facilities for Christchurch ratepayers
There are approximately 10,000 boat trailers registered in the Canterbury area, with five all tides slipways, and only one of those being close to Christchurch. None provide sheltere from all weathers.

In the Auckland area there are approximately 38,000 registered boat trailers, with 92 slipways with many being sheltered from all weathers.
Greymouth has a modern launching ramp and onshore facilities, plus at least one more ramp at Greymouth.
Safety is critical for our younger sailors.
Considering the above information and using Christchurch as the baseline, by comparison, Auckland should have 29 ramps and Greymouth should have 66 ramps.
This comparison provides a compelling argument with respect to the lack of suitable facilities in the Christchurch area, and how critical it is that local council assist with funding to improve Naval Point for recreational boaties, their ratepayers.
